PCV Valve & Filter
Some vehicles still use a Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve and PCV filter. The PCV filter, or breather element, filters the air entering the engine crankcase and should be replaced according to your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations.
PCV Valve
The PCV valve function is to redirect unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide present in the crankcase back into the air intake system where they have a second chance to burn. Sometimes, due to extreme heat, a PCV valve will fail either in the open or closed position. Failure in the open position can result in incorrect ignition timing and loss of power. Failure in the closed condition can result in excess pressure buildup in the crankcase leading to oil seal failure or oxygen sensor fouling.
Metered Orifice
Many newer vehicles use a metered orifice in place of a PCV valve and this too should be inspected periodically to ensure free flow.

EZ Lube PCV Valve Replacement
EZ Lube can perform a few simple vacuum tests to determine if the PCV valve is functioning properly or, if the PCV valve needs replacement.
