Tire Services
Tires play an extremely important role in both vehicle safety and fuel efficiency. They also play a role in preventative maintenance. If you keep your tires in good shape, you can reduce vibration and steering related stresses that could affect the stress wear on shocks, struts, and mechanical steering parts.
Tire Rotation If you have a front-wheel drive vehicle, the front tires will carry over 60 percent of the car’s weight. The front wheels are also responsible for transferring energy from the engine to the road, and they’re responsible for about 80 percent of the braking force. It just makes sense that the front and rear tires will wear unevenly, so by rotating your tires around your vehicle the tires will wear more evenly, lasting longer. Be sure to follow your manufacturer's recommendations when rotating tires in either a front-to-back or cross-front-to-back method. Tire Pressure It is best to follow your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendation for tire inflation rather than blindly following the tire manufacturer’s recommendation because some manufacturer’s recommend different inflation pressure for front and rear tires based on the specific loads carried by each tire. By making tire rotation part of you vehicle’s regularly scheduled auto repair and maintenance plan, you can maintain uniform tire wear and help avoid dangerous situations caused by poor traction or tire failure. |

Nitrogen Tire Service
Nitrogen is a new option for filling tires that helps maintain even tire pressure up to four times longer than compressed air.
Lug Nuts and Wheel Rims
Wheels should also be a part of regular vehicle inspections. You should check lug nuts periodically to make sure that they are all tightened properly. Inspect the edge of the rim to make sure there is no damage from striking potholes or curbs. If possible, any damage should be repaired or the wheel should be replaced because this could cause drivability issues or in rare instances provide an opportunity for the wheel to peel off the rim.
Wheel Balancing
Wheel balancing should be performed on a regular basis to ensure that uneven tire wear has not created a wheel imbalance. The wheel is removed from the vehicle and spun in a wheel balancing machine to determine the exact location of the imbalance. Small lead weights are placed strategically around the edge of the wheel—on either the inside or outside of the wheel—to bring the wheel back to a state of balance.
Wheel Alignment
Wheel Alignment should be checked whenever you replace your tires or if you’ve hit an obstruction in the road like a pothole. If the wheel alignment is off, your vehicle could pull to one side or the other and create uneven steering component wear and an unsafe driving situation.
